Hakim Adi is Professor of the History of Africa and the African Diaspora at the University of Chichester. The first historian of African heritage to become a professor of history in Britain, he has been researching and writing about the history of African and Caribbean people in Britain for decades. He is the founder and consultant historian of the Young Historians Project.

The event will be introduced by Paul Reid, Head of International Slavery Museum and after the lecture there will be a Q&A session chaired by Laurence Westgaph, NML Historian in Residence.

This event is part of  Slavery Remembrance Day 2023.

Doors will open at 5pm - the lecture will start at 6pm. There will be refreshments available on arrival.

The lecture is now sold out but there may be limited spaces available on the evening which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
