Exploring Hartley Hut

The Hartley Hut, designed by Jesse Hartley, is one of three octagonal granite cabins - built in 1844 - as part of the Albert Dock construction.

They were built as shelters for the workers operating the gates into the river, providing a place to keep warm and dry away from the unforgiving waterfront weather.
As part of the Waterfront Transformation Project, the Hartley Hut is being given a new lease of life and we want to hear from you!

Pop in on Tuesday 4th June, between 1pm and 4pm, to learn more about this fascinating building and share any memories or stories you have about it. You can find the Hartley Hut next to the Pilotage building at the river side of Canning Dock.
