The film Gardens of Stone chronicles the rise and fall of social housing in Liverpool.  

It starts with the slum clearance schemes of the 1920s, and the creation of mass social housing for the workers of Liverpool. It contains first hand testimony from residents of the main social housing blocks, including Gerard Gardens, and the impact of urban changes with the road development scheme of the 1960/70s.

The documentary premiered in 2005, and now you have a chance to revisit the film 20 years later.

The event will also include the premier of two short films;

'Ian Prowse live with the LRPO', this celebrates the 20th anniversay of 'Does This Train Stop on Merseyside' written by local musician Ian Prowse when he was the lead singer of Amsterdam.  Ian recently performed the song with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

'The Big Boss' was started by filmmaker Paul Sudbury using a Super 8 cine camera in 1978, and was only completed in 2025. It is a 1970s kung fu movie, where revenge is best served 47 years later.

Also on display with be a brand new model by local historian Ged Fagan, this contains several tenements from Byrom Street in the 1970s, including Fontenoy Gardens, Gerard Gardens, The Technical College and Churchill Flyovers.
