This event is part of the A Global City: connections, reflections and exceptions programme. Through a series of events, the Museum of Liverpool is looking to explore what makes Liverpool a ‘global city’ and how its history and culture have been shaped by, and continue to influence, the world around it.

Please join us for our next panel discussion which explores Liverpool’s rich botanical heritage - from its foundation as the UK’s first public Botanic Garden and site of scientific excellence, to its living plant collection’s various locations and iterations, to the ambitions of the newly formed Liverpool Botanical Trust.

Our panel will be:

  • Donna Young, Curator of the Herbarium at World Museum. With over 30 years’ experience of working with this internationally important botanical collection, Donna has a passion for celebrating and raising awareness of its history, relevance, use and potential.
  • Steve Lyus, Chair of Liverpool Botanical Trust. For the last 12 years Steve has been researching Liverpool Botanic Garden’s fascinating 220-year history.
  • Gerry Weaver, Senior Horticulturist of Liverpool Botanical Collection, Croxteth Hall Gardens, Liverpool City Council.
