Join us for an artist talk by ceramic artist Stephen Dixon with a focus on Maritime Museum's new acquisition Transient: Ship of Dreams and Nightmares.

Stephen Dixon is an award winning British ceramic artist with an international reputation for his socio-political narratives in contemporary ceramics. Dixon will be talking with us about his artistic practice and share insights gained from working with refugees while creating his award-winning piece Transient: The Ship of Dreams and Nightmares, which has been recently acquired by the Maritime Museum.

This event will also feature a screening of Breakable (2019), a film created by Johnny Magee in collaboration with the artist. Audience members will also have the opportunity to engage with the artist in a Q&A session at the end of the event.

This talk is the first in a series of events spotlighting various themes being developed to feature in the reimagined Maritime Museum, currently under major redevelopment as part of the Waterfront Transformation Project. The series will feature talks, performances, workshops, tours, films and in-conversation events.

When: Saturday 12th July, 2-3.30pm
