Unfortunately due to industrial action this event has been cancelled. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Join artist Nahem Shoa for a tour of his provocative and ground-breaking intervention, ‘Into the Light’, at the Walker Art Gallery. He will be joined by activist and life-long friend Desiree Sanderson to discuss his work and how it champions the people and communities that have been made to feel invisible throughout British history.

This talk will also celebrate and focus on the Walker’s newest acquisition ‘The Back of Gbenga’s Head’ by Shoa. Its intervention asks important questions relating to the display of works with links to the transatlantic slave trade. We encourage visitors to join the conversation, along with historian Laurence Westgaph, and voice their perspective of how the Walker can display and share these histories in a meaningful and respectful way.
