This talk will introduce a small display about Edward Lear (1812 – 1888). Best known today for his nonsense poems such as The Owl and the Pussycat, and the Jumblies, Lear was also a talented artist. We will examine Lear’s landscape art, his constant travelling, and how he often found himself at odds with the expectations of Victorian society.
