Celebrating bees and nature
No current dates available
Join us for a celebration event at the height of summer as we think about bees, wellness, and the natural world.
There will be a series of creative talks, the opportunity to ask experts all your gardening questions, learn about sustainable living, as well as the opportunity to plant some bee-friendly plants to take home.
Find out more about how being outside and connecting with nature can do wonders for your wellbeing.
Drop-in activities
Take the opportunity to plant some bee-friendly plants to take home, encouraging nature into your outdoor space. Kev Curran will also be here to talk to visitors about the benefits of creating nature-friendly spaces. These are free drop-in activities with no need to book in advance.
Ticketed talks and workshops
Free tickets for the following activities are available on the day from the information desk.
At 11am there will be a short presentation about the story of bees in Ancient Egypt, exploring how the Egyptians cared for bees and used their wax and honey for culinary, medicinal and magical purposes. We'll compare this with how we care for bees today, recognising amazing similarities stretching over thousands of years. Free tickets for this presentation are available from the information desk.
Andrea Ku will lead workshops at 1pm and 2pm, creating a scented candle using local beeswax. Considering the lessons learned comparing beekeeping in Ancient Egypt and today we will be using scents inspired by Ancient Egypt to fragrance our candles. Free tickets for these workshops are available from the information desk on the day.
