Are you a PGCE lecturer or an Initial Teacher Education tutor? Would your students like to learn how cultural organisations can support teachers’ schemes of work and enrich pupils’ lives? Then we invite you to bring your undergraduates to our special event days for Initial Teacher Education groups.

These half day events will open with a collective welcome and presentation about our schools programmes across our William Brown St venues: World Museum and the Walker Art Gallery, covering Key stages 1-2. Following this students will be divided into four smaller groups and rotate around a selection of museum-led activities that reflect our schools offer including three interactive workshops based on archaeology, theatre performance, art skills and artwork interpretation, plus a gallery tour.

After a lunch break there will be a presentation and group discussion to focus on the practicalities of organising a trip to our venues. The day will conclude with an open Q&A session allowing students acquire valuable insight and advice from the museum team’s wealth of experience.

All students will be provided with an itinerary and museum staff will be on hand to assist groups move between venues and activities with ease. We recommend bringing a packed lunch, pen and paper for note taking or completing activity trails.
