Celebrate 10 years of Meet the Scientists at the World Museum and beyond on Saturday 18th October as Scientists from across the University of Liverpool take over the museum for a fun-filled day of discovery, science and wonder!
Enjoy a full day of creative crafts, hands-on experiments, engaging performances, and exciting demonstrations. Here’s a preview of what’s in store:
- 🪲 Don’t bug out, welcome to the amazing world of insects! Through fun crafts, spy games, and card-matching challenges, you’ll uncover amazing secrets about these incredible little creatures.
- 🧠 Mind Matters - Experience how Virtual Reality technology can support our mental health and wellbeing
- 🪰 Discover the wonder of fruit flies and how they're not as different to us humans as we think!
- ✈️ Would you board a plane tested only in virtual reality? Step into our hands-on activities to explore virtual testing—try simulation puzzles and test your own ideas!
Plus special performances from Bob the Butterfly and Gerry the Gerbera and hands on screen printing with artist Laura Kate Draws!
As well as the World Museum, there will also be scientific fun and discovery at Central Library and the Walker Art Gallery!
Head to the Discover Zone of Central Library between 10am and 12.30pm for a morning of designer dinosaurs and brilliant bots.
First, design your own dinosaur — will it be fierce, friendly, fast, or slow? Discover how real dinosaurs might have looked and behaved, and why they’re sometimes misunderstood. Then leap into the future to invent your very own robot helper! From rescue bots to cooking companions, explore how robots have changed over time and imagine the ways they could make life better for everyone.
Join us in Big Art for Little Artists at the Walker Art Gallery for science themed craft and play, in timed sessions throughout the day.
At 3.15pm join us for Arts Sparks x Meet the Scientists -a special science themed Art Sparks session for our younger visitors.
Tickets for the sessions are available in advance online and if any remain at the information desk at the gallery on the day. (There is a small charge of £2 per child with up to two accompanying adults who can attend free of charge.)
Join us for a fun filled day of science!
