Write at the Museum is a monthly creative writing group for young people aged 16-24, where young writers can express themselves and explore their creative voices.

Taking inspiration from our collections at National Museums Liverpool, we explore important topics that mean something to you. We are a relaxed group, who support each other and provide a safe space to discuss our ideas and creative work.

This is not a taught session, but is a facilitated space to explore ideas with a group, using the collections and their stories as a source of inspiration and discussion. We also provide opportunities through our Future Voices programme to share your work in an open mic setting.

We meet on Saturdays once a month from 1-3:30pm. So, if you’re a young writer or a creative of any kind, come along and write at the museum!

This month's theme is: Queer Roots - LGBTQ+ Histories in Nature

Welcome to the natural world and the world is LGBTQ+! Our collections at World Museum Liverpool show a world full of creatures that are LGBTQ+. Whether these are Penguins who have same sex relationships or Clown Fish who can change their gender, it’s clear that nature is LGBTQ+. Join the group as we explore the connections between queer histories and the natural world, and elevate these stories through our creative writing.

Suitable for ages 16 - 24.
