Speckled green serpentine cosmetic vessel with flat base, footed, shouldered, constricted neck and wide flat rim which is chipped. Lid missing.
Marked on the rim in ink with Rev. William MacGregor's collection number 3395.
Sold at Sotheby's 6 July1922 (MacGregor Collection) Lot 1080: "Four kohl-vases, one with lid, in brown marble, 1 3/8 in. high, found at Esna in 1908; one in pinkish marble with black markings, 1 5/8 in. high; one in a semi-transparent green stone, 2 in. high; and the fourth in black basalt, 1 5/8 in. high".
