    Aylward Blackman was Professor of Egyptology at the University of Liverpool between 1948 and 1956. He spent four fieldwork seasons at Meir between 1912 and 1950 recording the rock-cut tombs in this part of Middle Egypt and produced a 6 volume publication of his labours. This coffin fragment is assumed to be have been collected through his fieldwork there.
