Jeremiah James Colman

British MP, Food Manufacturer & Collector of Antiquities

In the winter of 1896-7 Jeremiah Colman travelled to Egypt with his children, Ethel, Helen, Florence and Alan. Around 300 ancient Egyptian artefacts were collected on the trip which upon the death in 1898 of Jeremiah was bequeathed to Ethel and Helen who kept it until 1921 when they donated it to the City of Norwich and consequently the Norwich Castle Museum.

Some of these items were purchased from Norwich Castle Museum by Liverpool City Museums in 1956. For more on the Colman's Egyptian collection see this online article
