Oliver George Paulet Montagu

Royal equerry; Colonel in Royal Horse Guards

Colonel The Honourable Oliver Montagu (1844–1893) was the son of John Montagu, 7th Earl of Sandwich and Lady Mary Paget daughter of the 1st Marquess of Angelsey. As a child he lived at Hinchinbrooke House in Huntingdonshire. He entered the Royal Horse Guards as an officer and rose to the rank of colonel. As an equerry to the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) he accompanied him on his trip to Egypt in 1869.
