Antonio Borrioni

Collector of ancient sculpture

Antonio Borrioni formed the collection of ancient sculpture housed at the Villa Borrioni, which adjoined the Villa Ludovisi in Rome. Following his death in 1756, an auction of the sculpture was arranged by Nicolo Conti, one of his heirs, but was a failure. Consequently, the Borrioni sculptures were sold piecemeal by Borrioni's heirs, usually through the dealers Pacilli and Pacetti.
