About this object

A large open-work pillar with an offering lamp at the top. Behind the lamp is a pedestal figure of Durga surrounded by a large flower nimbus, which still has significant amounts of gilt showing.

    As for 56.27.260 on which handheld XRF elemental analysis at the surface/near surface was carried out by Dr Matthew Ponting, Dept. of Archaeology, Liverpool University, April 2013 and appears to show that the alloy is made up of approx. (rounded) Copper 58.5%, Zinc 36.8%, Lead 2.3% and Tin 1.5%. S. Newman, May 2013.
