Eleanor May Alexander Learoyd

Daughter of Frederick Campbell

May Learoyd gifted Frederick Campbell's collection to the Liverpool Museum in 1948. She had first offered the collection to the Edinburgh museums, but they had turned it down and offered it to Liverpool, as they felt it was a duplication of their existing collection. She was born in Allahabad and belonged to a colonial military family. She was married to 21st Lancers (Empresses of India) Captain Geoffrey Earnest Douglas Learoyd who died on the NWFP in 1918. She is buried along with her husband and father in the family cemetery of Fairfield House Estate, Monkton, Ayrshire (now demolished).
